Gunther Ultra/Bond's viscosity provides for a build out of 3/4" (19 mm) and can be compressed to 1/32" (.8 mm) for mirror installations requiring close tolerances such as overlays, mirrored furniture and medicine cabinets.
Gunther Ultra/Bond at 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius) achieves approximately 30 percent strength in 24 hours. Actual curing time will depend on temperature and the amount of air able to reach the Ultra/Bond and amount used. Easy working consistency year round. Will adhere to a wide variety of substrates including drywall, wood, metal, glass, marble and tile. Surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, grease, loose or powdery paint or primers. For assurance sand to base surfaces. All porous substrates should always be sealed with an acrylic sealer like
Gunther Prime-N-Seal Primer . A sealer will add strength to the wall and prevent caustic lime from attacking the mirror backing. Wall and mirror surfaces must be above 60°F (15.5°C).
Gunther Ultra/Bond should be applied in vertical beads the full length of the mirror, 5" to 6" (127 to 152 mm) apart. Allow 3" (76 mm) from the mirror edge to begin or end a bead. Install mirror within 10 minutes after Ultra/Bond has been applied.
NOTE: NOT FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATIONS. Not for use on acrylic mirror, painted surfaces, vinyl backed safety film, treated wood, plastics or styrofoam. Do not apply to wall paper or paint. Not designed to be exposed to continuous U.V. light. Use a mechanical support system to support mirror during and after installation for all mirror applications. This includes the use of mechanical fasteners at the top of the mirror.
Ultra/Bond creates a skin in twenty seconds preventing dust from adhering to the surface. When mirror is set in place, the skin dissolves for maximum contact. Once mirror is placed on the wall DO NOT REMOVE for "air tacking". Maximum strength is obtained by curing to both surfaces without breaking the bond. For easy clean-up use mineral spirits. Test material to be cleaned. Make sure mineral spirits will not cause any damage.
